The municipality of Ingenbohl-Brunnen is situated in the heart of Switzerland and is more than just a small urban gem by Lake Lucerne. It is an attractive and upmarket place to live and work and has a rich culture.

History

Brunnen is first mentioned in historical records in 1315, at the time when the three founding cantons renewed their alliance of 1291 following the Battle of Morgarten. Until 1618, Ingenbohl and Brunnen were part of the parish of Schwyz and known as the ‘Altes Land Schwyz’ (‘Altes Land’ roughly translating as ‘Old Canton’). With the construction of the road through the Gotthard Pass, Brunnen became an important site for the transhipment of goods. This idyllically situated village was later discovered by travellers as a resort, and so the municipality developed into a famous holiday destination.

Beautiful location by Lake Lucerne

The municipality of Ingenbohl is located on the main North-South axis. Situated directly by Lake Lucerne, it provides a unique view of Lake Uri and the splendid panorama of the Bauenstock mountains and the snow-covered Mount Uri Rotstock.
