Led by an expert guide, the circular Rütli tour not only spirits you away to the founding days of Switzerland but also leads you in the footsteps of Wilhelm Tell.
According to legend, the three representatives of the founding cantons pledged themselves to the Eternal Alliance of the Three Forest Cantons on the Rütli meadow on 1 August 1291. The men were Werner Stauffacher of Schwyz, Walter Fürst of Uri and Arnold von Melchtal of Unterwalden. Ever since, every Swiss person has regarded the Rütli as a memorial site for the historic event of the Rütli oath. The founding myth has been nourished for many years now by Friedrich Schiller’s memorable drama ‘Wilhelm Tell’. Was the freedom fighter Wilhelm Tell a legend or a myth? Experience and enjoy the historic landscape by Lake Uri with the Rütli, the Schiller Stone, the Tell Chapel, the Tell Memorial and Tell Museum.
You can visit all of these historic places by Lake Uri in the company of a travel guide. Your guide will accompany you on the boat ride from Brunnen to Rütli and the Tellsplatte. Together, you will walk some of the Swiss Path before taking the bus to the Tell Museum in Bürglen and then walking through the historic alleys of Altdort to reach the Tell Memorial.
