The Oberberg cross-country ski trail by Schwyz is especially suitable for ambitious cross-country ski enthusiasts.
The Oberberg cross-country ski trail is situated above Schwyz at around 1,200 metres above sea level. The 4-kilometre trail is varied, technically demanding and has excellent snow conditions. The way the trail is laid out and the elevation difference of around 65 metres make it especially suitable as a training route for ambitious cross-country ski enthusiasts. However, those who prefer a more leisurely cross-country experience will also enjoy the trail thanks to the wonderful panoramic views. The panoramic vista offers beautiful views of the Muota Valley Alps with the Wasserberg, Blüemberg and Chaiserstock mountains.
Along the Zimmerstalden and Schlössli sections, two new loops add up to a total distance of 4 kilometres.
The night-time trail (2.5 km) remains the same.
The trail can be reached by car via the Ibergeregg road when coming from Schwyz, or via Ibergeregg if coming from Einsiedeln. You can also take the Muotathal bus (Line 1) and get off at the ‘Ried Seilbahn Illgau’ stop. From there, you can take the Ried-Illgau and Illgau-St. Karl cable cars. Once at the mountain station, a 10-minute walk along the winter-walking trail will bring you to the cross-country ski trail.
