The alp Firenboden lies in the Näppenalp alpine area below the Huserstock and the Klingenstock, exposed to the N.

In 2003, a new alpine hut Firenboden with a new cheese dairy was built. The original alpine hut, which was built of stacked stones, was about 300 years old.

The cheese-making equipment consists of a 250l kettle, heated with wood and operated with an electric stirrer (solar power). The cheese is stored between 3 - 12 months. The slow ripening during the winter storage on the alp gives the cheese an excellent flavour.

It is possible to buy fresh alpine cheese in summer on the ridge trail or directly at the alpine hut.
