Floating towards the myths with the gondola. Hiking through a Scandinavian-looking landscape. Return comfortably by bus to the starting point. The round trip "Moorwälder Ibergeregg" makes it possible. And even a coffee break is included in the ticket.

The day trip to the "far north" begins with a ride on the Rotenfluebahn. While the myths seem to become more and more powerful, the valley basin of Schwyz, the Lauerzersee and the Lake of Uri shrink to a landscape for tiny creatures. Before setting off, it is best to strengthen your mind and body with a drink on the panorama terrace of the Gipfelstublis.

The hike from the Rotenflue to the Ibergeregg pass takes about one hour. Here the view of the valley basin from a different perspective is presented, and it is complemented by the view of the Ybriger mountains. It is not only the view that makes you rejoice, but also the fact that the coffee break at the hotel Passhöhe is included in the hiking combination.

The Old Schwyzerweg now leads through a mosaic of open moorland, pastures and forests with wet soils. One feels as if one has been transported to Scandinavia. The moorland forests of Ibergeregg have been protected under federal law since 1996 as a moorland landscape of national importance. In 2019, the Swiss Foundation for Landscape Protection awarded it the title of Landscape of the Year 2019. Many endangered animal species have found a home in the primeval landscape of the Ibergeregg, for example capercaillie and black grouse, cuckoo and ring ouzel. Along the way, the idea of describing the Ibergeregg as a natural cornucopia is consolidated.

The hike through the unique moor landscape ends much too early - after only 75 minutes - in Oberiberg. From there the bus takes the hikers back to the starting point in Rickenbach near Schwyz. During the ride, the moor and forests of the Ibergeregg pass by their windows one last time.
